The purpose of this initiative is to preserve San Benito County’s agricultural and rural lands, to promote smart growth by directing it to existing urban areas, and to give voters greater control over land use decisions. More specifically, this initiative removes most of the 16 "nodes" in the County's 2035 General Plan and lets voters decide where and when future development will take place. (To read the entire initiative, click on the pdf file below.)
